Women's Premier
Day two at the Collegiate Rugby Championship, highlighted by the women's competition with two National Champions being crowned and two straight hours of nothing but women's rugby being broadcast live on national television.
Lindenwood won their fourth straight Collegiate Rugby Championship title led by MVP Sativa Tarau-Peehikuru, who claimed her second straight Most Valuable Player Award. She was assisted heavily by Eti Haungatau, who was very hard to tackle for everyone all weekend. Amy Brice, Bri Vasquez, and Helen Van Hattem also played well for the Lions.
Life was led by Autumn Locicero and Saher Hamdan with impressive performances for the weekend. The Running Eagles send off Head Coach Rosalind Chou for the last game of her career as Head Coach of Life. With another Final Four and finals appearance, Penn State claimed third place with a victory over Grand Canyon University. Northern Iowa defeated Virginia Tech to claim the Women's Premier Champion Cup Final. Claremont Colleges defeated University of Iowa to win the Women's Premier Survivors Cup final, and Southern Oregon bested Clemson University to win the Women's Premier Challenge Cup Final.
Women's DI Club
The Women's DI club National Championship was claimed by Roger Williams University with a narrow victory over University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, who put up a fierce fight but ultimately fell short.
Men's Premier
In the Men's Premier Cup, the competition was distilled down to the Final Four with two-time CRC champion Dartmouth returning to the semifinals, where they'll face fellow #3 the Iona Gales, who knocked off Cinderella candidate Cal Maritime and fellow New York competitor, Army, in day two to make it the penultimate match. The other semi final features Kutztown and Lindenwood, both who have been to a number of CRC Final Fours. The Golden Bears advancing with an impressive defeat of the Penn State Nittany Lions, and Lindenwood downing a game Wheeling to advance to the Championship match. The Survivors Shield bracket, it’s Virginia Tech, Air Force, South Carolina and Clemson, still playing for hardware and then the bowl competition is Michigan, Westchester, Fordham, and James Madison still contending for glory. The Champions Cup bracket, the Notre Dame College Falcons, the Army Black Knights, Iowa State, and Notre Dame are still in it for the title.
Men's DI Club
The Men's DI club competition, the cream has risen to the top with Salisbury advancing to a 5-1 record alongside fellow 5-1 Sam Houston State. When these two teams met earlier in the competition, Salisbury defeated Sam Houston by a narrow margin.
Men's DII Club
Men's DII were down to the final eight including Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the University of Northern Iowa, the Citadel, and Lander. The Citadel pulled off a massive upset, downing the Principia Thunderchickens, the prohibited favorite, in the most recent round.
Men's Small College
The Men’s Small College competition is down to the final two, with Denver University defeating John Carroll, advancing to the final, and the Maine Black Bears beating University of Wisconsin - Stout.
On the final day of competition, Memorial day, four National Champions will be crowned, highlighted by the Premier cup. Dartmouth is seeking its third CRC title while Kutztown, many times a bridesmaid, is looking to actually get to the altar and seal the deal this time by winning the Championship.
Monday's action in the Premier cup is highlighted by Dartmouth looking for their third National Championship and the first since 2012. Iona has high-water marks in the quarterfinals. They're now in the semifinals looking to make their second 1st, reaching the first ever Championship game in the CRC. Kutztown has a chance of winning the whole thing but first they are going to have to beat three-time champion Lindenwood.
